Fundamentals of Smart Recovery for substance-related and addictive disorders - Michler Bishop
Currently, there are over 3000 SMART Recovery face-to-face and online meetings in 23 countries. SMART Recovery uses evidence-based techniques from Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), in addition to techniques from Motivational Interviewing, Relapse Prevention and Positive Psychology. Meetings are run by both recovering individuals and professionals. Organizing and running such meetings can provide valuable peer support to individuals in treatment in clinics and private practice. This workshop will focus on each part of SMART Recovery’s Four-point Program:
1. Building and Maintaining Motivation
2. Coping with Urges
3. Managing Thoughts, Feelings and Behavior
4. Living a Balanced Life
The workshop will also discuss ways participants can get further training online and set up and run SMART Recovery meetings.
